Govt to relax debt, taxes of 270 sick RMG units
Government yesterday decided to relax due debts and income taxes of 270 sick or closed readymade garments factories to help them resume operations.
The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting with Commerce Adviser Hossain Zilur Rahman in the chair.
The meeting decided that Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will submit a list of these factories to the finance ministry. The ministry will issue a circular to relax the conditions. Bangladesh Bank will also take the necessary steps in this regard.
The commerce ministry will write letters to the ministries of finance and law to withdraw cases in the Money Loan Court against those factories and to National Board of Revenue (NBR) to exempt due income taxes of those sick factories.
