Two spice factories, five fruit shops fined
A mobile court fined two spice factories in the port city Tk 40,000 for producing spice powder in a dirty environment and selling those without the approval of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI).
Each of the factories located in Chowmohani area was fined Tk 20,000. The mobile court also destroyed three sacks of rotten dry chilli there.
District Executive Magistrate Gautam Baroi led the drive as part of BSTI's anti-adulteration campaign.
Meanwhile, another mobile court in Laxmipur district fined five fruit shops Tk 22,500 on charges of selling formalin-laced grapes and destroyed 40kg of the fruit.
