Another accused Tota arrested

Khalilur Rahman Mallick alias Tota Mallick, one of the main accused in journalist Jamal Uddin murder case, was arrested yesterday.
Major Arif, in-charge of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-6) Jessore camp, said a special team of the elite force arrested Tota from the Goalunda Ghat in Rajbari in a planned raid at about 1:00pm.
Earlier Rab arrested Raju Mallick, brother of Tota Mallick on July 6 from Arpara of Magura. Police arrested Tota's wife Lata Begum also on the night of the killing.
Away in Paschimbanga, India, police arrested Ukil Mallick, another brother of Tota from Helencha Market under Bagda PS in 24 Pargana district on June 24. Ukil is still in Indian jail.
Jamal Uddin, 35, Kashipur correspondent of Jessore-based Daily Gramer Kagoj was brutally murdered on the night of June 15.
A gang of criminals stabbed Jamal to death after abducting him from a tea stall at Kashipur Bazar under Sharsha upazila in Jessore at around 11pm. The criminals also gouged out his left eye and cut the tendons of the legs.
Abdul Alim, father of the slain journalist, filed a case with Sharsha police station on the following day, accusing seven people.
The accused are Tota Mallick, Raju Mallick and Ukil Mallick, sons of Shamsher Mallick, Ramjan Member, son of late Akbar Ali Sheikh, Lata Begum, wife of Tota Mia of Kashipur village, Bazlur Rahman, son of late Amzad Haq Mollah and Jasim Uddin of Tengraali village.
