'Speed up war crimes trial'
Leaders of Sampradayikata-Jongibad Birodhi Mancha, an anti-communalism platform, yesterday urged the government to extend all-out support to the war crimes tribunal for speeding up the trial proceedings.
They made the call at a human chain programme at Mirpur Section-1 in the capital.
The speakers demanded expediting the ongoing trial of war criminals for the sake of democracy.
The programme was addressed, among others, by the organisation's coordinator Ajoy Roy and joint coordinator Ziauddin Tarek Ali.
They alleged that a vested quarter mostly constituted by Jamaat men and their 'foreign masters' was creating anarchy centring Ilias Ali's disappearance for obstructing the trials against those involved in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
