A fire broke out at Ahad Jute Mill in BSCIC Industrial Estate at Jhumjhumpur in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The fire originated at about 11:00am when the mill remained closed due to weekly holiday. The cause of the blaze could not be ascertained immediately.
Fire fighters rushed in and doused the blaze after over two hours of their frantic efforts.
Local sources estimated that huge amount of jute and jute goods were gutted in the fire.
Delwar Hossain, manager of the mill, said, “Being informed, I rushed to the spot and found the mill being engulfed by fire.”
