Army win Shaheed Smriti hockey

Bangladesh Army became champions in the Chowdhury Group Shaheed Smriti Hockey Competition beating Sadharan Bima 2-1 in an entertaining final at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium yesterday.
Siraj put Army ahead in the 49th minute from a penalty corner. Malek doubled the lead seven minutes later with a field goal. Turja, however, reduced the margin for Sadharan Bima on the sixty second minute striking from the penalty spot.
But Army held on to their one-goal lead for the last eight minutes to claim the title. Minister for Youth & Sports Ahad Ali Sarkar, chief guest in the final, distributed prizes after the match.
