Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Abu Dhabi yesterday to attend the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2011 today and deliver her keynote speech.
Bangladesh Ambassador to UAE Nazmul Qaunine and high officials of the UAE government received the prime minister at Abu Dhabi International Airport at 12:30pm (local time).
A tiny tot presented a bouquet to the prime minister. Later, she was driven in a ceremonial motorcade to Emirates Palace where she will be staying during her four-day official visit.
Earlier, a special plane of Bangladesh Biman carrying the premier and her entourage left Hazrat Shajalal International Airport at 9:00am.
A 30-member business delegation is also accompanying the premier in her visit to the UAE.
The fourth World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi will be held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. More than 25,000 participants from around the world are expected to attend the summit.
WFES is the world's largest conference and exhibition on renewable and future energy solutions, innovations, investments, policy and vision.
WFES 2011 to be held on January 17-20 will focus on the theme: 'Enabling Future Energy Solutions'.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will address the Heads of State and international delegates at the WFES, a forum that promotes collaboration, innovation and investment opportunities in renewable energy, environment and clean technology.
During her stay in Abu Dhabi, the premier will hold a meeting with the top level businessmen and investors of the UAE.
She will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the apex chambers of the two countries and attend a luncheon to be hosted by UAE Foreign Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI).
Hasina will attend a civic reception at Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Bangladesh Community School and the Zayed Future Energy Prize distribution ceremony at Emirates Palace auditorium.
During the PM's visit, Bangladesh and the UAE are expected to sign two significant agreements - on promotion and protection of investment, and on avoidance of double taxation - to enhance economic relations.
