An indigenous boy was 'poisoned to death' allegedly by a landlord at Khagrakandor village in Tanore upazila on Tuesday night.
Tapan Barman, 16, son of Indranath Barman of the village died at around 9:30pm when he was taken to Tanore hospital, said police.
Before his death, Tapan reportedly informed his brother Swapon that Emdadul Haque, uncle of his friend Zakkar Ali aided by an unidentified man forcibly fed him poison, accusing him of stealing 15 kilogram of his paddy.
Indranath lodged a case in this regard with Tanore police station accusing Emdadul, a local landlord and the unidentified person.
Sub inspector Anisur Rahman of Tanore police station who is investigating the case said, Zakkar stole 15kg paddy from his father's granary and kept it at Tapan's house on Monday. The next day, Zakkar and Tapan sold the paddy at Zumarpara market.
Police said Tapan's body was sent to Rajshahi for autopsy. They also said Emdadul along with his family members went into hiding immediately after filing of the case.
