Punish molester of deaf girl

Hundreds of physically and mentally challenged people formed a human chain, held a rally and submitted memorandum to the deputy commissioner of Chapinawabagnj yesterday demanding punishment to a man who attempted to violate a seven-year-old hearing-impaired girl.
Jalal Uddin, 60, a rice mill owner of Namoshankarbati Moholla of Chapainawabganj municipality area, tried to violate hearing and speech impaired Mobassera Khatun, 7, representatives of the physically and mentally challenged people said at a press conference at Chapainawabganj Press Club.
When Mobassera was playing near Jalal's rice mill on September 29, he called her in a room and tried to violate her but the minor girl was saved as two women workers of the rice mill went there hearing her scream.
Later, the girl informed her parents of the matter and her father Bashirul Islam filed a case against Jalal Uddin with Sadar police station under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act in the evening the same day. Police arrested Jalal on the night.
The protesters demanded exemplary punishment to the accused.
Hazera Nahar Nadi, general secretary of Protibondhi Narider Jatiya Parishad, Habiba Khatun of Mukto Bihongo Protibondhi Nari Parishad, Jyotsna Khatun of Zila Protibondhi Sangstha Jago spoke at a rally jointly organised by Mukto Bihongo Protibondhi Nari Parishad and Zila Protibondhi Sangstha Jago.
