Another Allar Dal member caught in police dragnet

Police arrested another member of Islamist outfit Allar Dal yesterday from the district jail gate as he came to visit his fellows.
Police said suspicious movement of Abdul Majed Sarker of Mithapukur in Rangpur district drew attention of jail security personnel.
Being informed, a police team led by SI Rabbani rushed to the jail gate and arrested Majed from the spot.
Earlier, Gaibandha Sadar police in a raid arrested 24 militants of Allar Dal from the house of one Haji Moinudin at village Rother Bazar under Gaibandha Sadar upazila on July 17. They were holding a meeting in that house.
A judicial magistrate court on July 25 granted three days' police remand for the 24 arrestees following a police prayer for a 10-day remand.
Arrestee Majed disclosed to police that he was also present at the July 17 meeting and sensing police presence he had managed to flee the scene.
Police will seek three days' remand for Majed on producing him before the judicial magistrate court today for further interrogation, said Akbar Hossain, OC of Gaibandha Sadar police station.
During primary interrogation Majed confessed to police that he is an active member of Allar Dal and follower of Matin Mehdi, kingpin of the outfit. Matin Mehdi was arrested in Kurigram district a few years ago.
According to police Allar Dal is regrouping in Gaibandha Sadar, Sunderganj, Sadullapur and Gobindaganj upazilas of Gaibandha.
Sadullapur police arrested four militants from different areas of Sadullapur upazila and five others from Prodhanerpara of Gobindaganj upazila in June.
