Salahuddin back with Tigers
Mohammad Salahuddin is likely to join the national team again as fielding coach when the Tigers will start their preparation tomorrow for the two-match Test series against England.
The team management has been facing problems with a shortage of coaching staffs in the national team as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) did not extend the tenure of Sri Lankan Ruwan Kalpage while bowling coach Champaka Ramanayake is now under treatment.
Champaka's contract will expire by the end of this month and BCB is looking forward to his treatment immediately.
"We are giving priority on his treatment right at the moment," said BCB's media committee chairman Jalal Yunus yesterday.
The Sri Lankan will need surgery on his thyroid and board is unsure about the seriousness of the former Lankan pace bowler's illness.
Head coach Jamie Siddons has only former national skipper Khaled Mahmud besides him and that's why BCB has decided to assign Salahuddin, the fielding coach who didn't get the extension, again in the same role.
"Salahuddin has been appointed as academy coach recently but we will consider him to assist the national team if the team management wants him," said Yunus.
