Authors reveal influential books
Gabriel Garcia Marquez was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1982.
Lolita, The Satanic Verses and The English Patient have been named in a list of books that shaped the world of literature over the past 25 years.
Twenty-five authors including Amit Chaudhuri, Blake Morrison and Indra Sinha were asked by literary magazine Wasafiri for their top pick.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude was the only book to be picked by more than one writer.
The list was created to coincide with Wasafiri's 25th anniversary.
Marquez's novel, originally published in Spanish in 1967, tells the story of one family's struggle in a fictional South American town. It was chosen by Nigerian author Chika Unigwe, Ghanaian poet Nii Parkes and Indian poet Sujata Bhatt.
"Marquez completely redefines how one looks at reality," said Unigwe. "I cannot think of a single writer-friend I know who has not been influenced by Márquez."
Barack Obama's memoir, Dreams from My Father, also appeared on the list, as did works by Seamus Heaney, VS Naipaul, Ted Hughes and JM Coetzee.
