Home minister lauds law enforcement agencies
Home Minister Sahara Khatun has expressed her satisfaction over the performance of law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order smoothly across the country during Eid-ul-Fitr.
“The law enforcement agencies including the police have maintained law and order efficiently and successfully,” she said.
Sahara made the remarks while replying to questions from reporters at her ministry after exchanging greetings with the officials and employees on the first working day after Eid vacation yesterday.
About law and order during Durga Puja beginning across the country today, the minister hoped that the situation will also remain under control in the days to come if “people extend their cooperation cordially.”
People have to come forward in maintaining law and order alongside the government, she said, adding that it is possible to improve further the law and order situation “if we try all together.”
She said initiatives have been taken to maintain law and order during Durga Puja and law enforcement agencies have already been instructed to work in this regard.
When asked about opposition leader Khaleda Zia's recent remarks about the deterioration of law and order situation, Sahara refrained from making any comment but said, “She is a responsible person…people can see how the law and order situation is in the country.”
State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haq Tuku said, “We are happy to see a stable law and order before and after the Eid. We hope the situation will also be under control during Durga Puja.”
