Reefat slips to third

Grand Master Reefat Bin Sattar slipped to third position at the close of fifth round of the 9th United Insurance & United Leasing Grandmasters Chess Tournament at the National Sports Council Tower Lounge yesterday.
Reefat was joint top with Indian Grand Master Dibyendu Barua at the end of the fourth round, but the local GM went down to the Indian GM, who now enjoy the solo lead in the point table with 4.5 points.
Dibyendu played with white pieces against French Defense and the game continued to Tarrasch variation and he won the game after 33 moves.
Top rated Georgian GM Mikheil Mchedlishvili beat GM Rustam Khusnutdinov of Kazakistan in the fifth round to stay in the second position with 4 points.
As many as 10 players - GM Enamul Hossain Rajib, GM Reefat Bin Sattar, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag, Hasan Emam, GM Merab Gagunashvili, Igors Rausis of Czech Republic, GM Neelotpal Das, GM Tejas Bakre, IM Atanu Lahiri and Indian Bitan Banerjee --- were sharing the third position with 3.5 points each.
Rajib drew with Neelotpal, Rausis drew with Bakre, Lahiri drew with Gagunashvili, Parag beat FM Abu Sufian Shakil, Hasan beat IM Vishal Sareen, Bitan beat FM Kh. Aminul Islam.
GM Abdullah Al Rakib beat FM Hamal Manish, Praveen Kumar drew with GM Ismagambetov Anuar, FM Minhazuddin Ahmed drew with FM Sahaj Grover, FM Taibur Rahman beat FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman Emon, FM Vinoth Kumar beat Debaraj Chatterjee, FM Mohammad Javed drew with Shrestha Keshav, Golam Moshtafa Bhuiyan beat Karma Pandy, FM Sk. Nasir Ahmed beat Abdullah Al Saif, Aminul Islam Polash beat Tandukar Naveen and Jamal Uddin beat Shrestha Bilam Lal.
