Different student organisations staged demonstrations on the Dhaka University (DU) campus yesterday protesting atrocities of the law enforcing agencies on teachers and students during student unrest on the campus in August 2007.
During the demonstrations, the student leaders demanded reinvestigation into the incident and punishment to the culprits who were involved in the process of torturing teachers and students.
They also demanded that all cases filed in connection with the August 20-22 unrest would be withdrawn immediately.
Bangladesh Chhatra Union, Bangladesh Chhatra Federation, Bangladesh Chhatra Front, JSD Chhatra League, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Bangladesh Chhatra Moitree and Pragotishil Chhatra Jote brought separate processions and held rallies to press home the demands.
Student organisations will also observe the 'University Black Day' on the campus today.
