A High Court (HC) bench yesterday dropped from its cause list a petition filed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for quashing the proceedings of barge-mounted power plant case against her, upholding its (HC) earlier order staying the case.
The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Rezowan Ali and Justice Md Rais Uddin made the petition out of its cause list since this bench has no jurisdiction to hear this petition following the reconstitution of the benches.
The court gave the order when the matter came up on the cause list for hearing yesterday.
Hasina's lawyer Barrister Rafique-Ul Huq told reporters that they would move the petition to another bench of the HC for vacating the stay order, so that the case against Sheikh Hasina can be withdrawn from the trial court.
The HC on July 7 last year, following a petition seeking quashing proceedings of the case, stayed all proceedings of the barge-mounted power plant case filed by the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC).
