Laxmipur AL man stabbed dead

A union-level leader of Awami League was stabbed to death by unknown miscreants in Laxmipur Sadar upazila early today.

Police recovered the body of Mohammad Ullah, 38, AL joint secretary of Kushkhali union unit, from beside a local canal, said Iqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

Mohammad was also a member of the union parishad, reports our Noakhali correspondent quoting UP Chairman Ahmed Ullah Nasir.

According to the chairman, Mohammad went out of his residence last evening for Kushkhali Bazar and did not return the whole night.

Locals found the body bearing several stabbed marks in the morning and informed police.

The body was sent to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.
