UAP holds intra-department moot competition
University of Asia Pacific Moot Court Club (UAPMCC) organised the 3rd Intra-Department Moot Court Competition on Contract and Tort Law for the students of Department of Law and Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), on April 26 and 27, 2019.
A total of 24 teams from the Department participated in the Competition. Judges of Bangladesh Judicial service, lawyers and former mooters from different universities currently serving as professionals were the adjudicators.
Mr. Salahuddin Ahmad, Director, School of Law, UAP and former Attorney General of Bangladesh, Barrister Khaled Hamid Chowdhury, Head, London College of Legal Studies (South), Mr. Md. Asaduzzaman, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Law & Human Rights, UAP, Dr. Chowdhury Ishrak Ahmed Siddiky, Assistant Professor & Adviser, LL.M. Program, UAP and Mr. A S M Sayem Ali Pathan, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh & National Administrator of Jessup Bangladesh Moot Court Competition, were adjudicators in the final round.
Team comprising Shusil Kabir, Parisha Afrin and Ananya Mahbub Sanchita emerged as the champion and the team consisting of Nusrat Tayba Mim, Arefin Akash and Fahim Ahmed became the runners-up in the competition. Shusil Kabir won the Best Mooter Award while Fahim Ahmed was awarded as the Best Researcher.
Mr. Monzoor Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairperson, Bord of Trustees of University of Asia Pacific Foundation graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. UAPMCC regularly arranges workshops and competitions with a view to helping the mooters get prepared for upcoming national and international moot court competitions.
