Covid surge: Daily cases shoot up to 9,500, 12 deaths recorded

At least 9,500 new infections were recorded and 12 people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00 am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The current positivity rate is 25.11 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.72 percent.

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,176 and the mortality rate stands at 1.72 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 16,42,294 added the release.

A total of 37,830 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 473 patients have recovered from Covid-19 during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,54,268 and the recovery rate at 94.64 percent, added the release.

Of the 12 deceased, 10 were male and two female and they were aged between 51-90 years old, added the release.
