HC transfers case to CID
The High Court yesterday directed the superintendent of police of Pirojpur to handover to Criminal Investigation Department a case that was filed for torturing and sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl in Nazirpir of Pirojpur last month.
Hearing a writ petition filed by Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), the HC ordered for the case to be transferred for a “fair” investigation and also ordered CID to submit the probe report before it on May 20.
The writ was filed based on a report published by The Daily Star on March 19.
The HC bench of Justice Mirza Hussain Haider and Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar also asked the police to send accused Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Nazirpur Police Station Abdur Rahman and Mujahidul Islam Miah Zafar, who were present before the HC, to jail.
According to The Daily Star report, Zafar and his accomplices forced a boy and the girl to go to a health complex on March 12. At the health complex, Abdur Rahman raped the girl. Before that, the ASI forced her and the boy to strip and “perform sexually provocative acts”, which he photographed and videoed.
Later in the day, Rahman and Zafar forced the two teenagers into marriage without registration, said the report.
After the report was published, ASK filed the writ petition, which prompted the HC to issue a rule upon the government to explain the legality of the abuse of power by ASI Rahman, and summon Rahman and Zafar before it yesterday.
Law enforcers arrested Rahman and Zafar after the boy filed a case with the local police station on March 19.
