GRP constable held with phensidyl in Pabna

A Government Railway Police (GRP) constable has been held in Pabna on charge of keeping 25 bottles of phensidyl in his possession illegally.
Md Nayeem Hossain, constable of Ishwardi GRP, was arrested on Thursday and sent to jail by a Pabna court yesterday, said Md Shahab Uddin, superintendent of GRP Police's Pakshey region, today.
Railway Police formed a committee, headed by an additional superintendent of Pakshey GRP, to investigate the matter, our Pabna correspondent reports quoting the GRP SP.
On Wednesday, Ishwardi GRP Police raided Dhalarchar Express and seized 264 bottles of phensidyl from the train, the GRP SP said.
After the drive, Constable Nayeem concealed 25 bottles out of the 264 and kept those in his own possession, the SP said.
Acting on a tip off, a GRP Police team recovered the phensidyl from a trunk after raiding his room on Thursday and arrested Constable Nayeem, said the police official.
A case was filed with Ishwardi Police Station in this connection, said SP Shahab Uddin, adding that the arrested constable was suspended.
