Coronavirus positivity rate rises again
The health directorate yesterday reported 41 deaths from Covid-19 and 2,868 new cases in 24 hours.
With these, the total number of deaths now reached at 3,822 which is 1.33 percent of all confirmed cases, read a press release, adding that the total number of positive cases so far in the country stands at 287,995.
The rate of positive cases rose to 20.40 percent yesterday from 18.72 of the previous day.
The overall rate of positive cases now stands at 20.46 percent, according to the release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours till 8:30am yesterday, a total of 3,253 Covid-19 patients have recovered.
The total number of recoveries stands at 168,991 which is more than 58 percent of all confirmed cases.
Bangladesh is currently on the 16th position in the list of worst affected countries in the world in terms of the number of total cases.
The position is one step behind Pakistan and one step ahead of Italy, according to worldometer.info.
A total of 14,059 samples were tested in 91 labs across the country in the same 24 hours.
Seven hundred and sixty-six people were put under isolation during the same period, the release added.
Among the dead, 32 were male and nine were female.
One of them aged between 21 and 30 years, one between 31 and 40 years, one between 41 and 50, eight between 51 and 60 years, and 30 above 60 years.
