Five factories fined Tk 34 lakh for polluting Turag river

The Department of Environment (DoE) fined five dyeing and washing factories a total of Tk 34 lakh in Gazipur's Tongi for polluting the Turag river yesterday.
The factories, Syntax Finishing Mills Ltd, Jeans Collection, Laundry Gate (Pvt) Ltd, Unique Textile Mills Ltd and Safe Fashions Ltd, used to discharge effluent into the river, said a press release.
The representatives of the factories promised to take necessary steps.
