First T20 today
Bangladesh will play the first of their two Twenty20 Internationals against Sri Lanka at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong today. The day-night match will begin at 5:00 pm and will be broadcast live on Maasranga Television.
There is a chance that star Sri Lanka batsman Mahela Jayawardene will be rested after the right-hander hurt a finger on his right hand during catching practice yesterday.
The Tigers, who will have one eye on the ICC World T20 while playing this series, are without their regular captain Mushfiqur Rahim who has been rested due to a finger injury. Pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza will be leading the side. Also absent from the side is left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak, who pulled a hamstring during the second Test.
The absence of the regular players has brought in youngsters such as Arafat Sunny, Sabbir Rahman and Mithun Ali, all of whom will be vying for a spot in the national side ahead of the World Twenty20.
So far Bangladesh have faced Sri Lanka twice in T20Is and were beaten on both occasions. The Lankans are the top-ranked side in T20 cricket whereas Bangladesh are 10th.
