Another exam paper leak!

The news of question paper leak of Dhaka University's "Gha" unit admission exam is very disappointing. According to newspaper reports, some admission seekers got the question paper of the said unit via WhatsApp and other instant messaging apps prior to the exam, which was held on October 12, 2018. The Daily Star has scrutinised the 14 images it has obtained of a handwritten script containing multiple-choice questions (MCQ) with answers and found that 72 MCQs of the leaked images matched with the questions of the original script.
As the DU authorities have formed a probe body to investigate the allegation and said that they will know whether it was a question leak or digital forgery after completing the investigation, we would like to remind them of the fact that last year when the question paper of the same unit was leaked, they also formed a probe body which has not yet submitted its report. We hope that the same will not happen this time. And although the questions were leaked via digital devices, this does not necessarily mean that this was digital forgery. If it was digital forgery, why then were the questions and answers found in a handwritten form? Thus the probe body must find out if there were any insiders involved in the leak.
However, it is good to know that the police have arrested the owners of the two admission information centres and their accomplices who allegedly leaked the questions. The real culprits must be found and punished severely.
We suggest the university authorities find the loopholes in the system and plug them. They must also find out whether it was an inside job. That may not be entirely beyond the realm of possibility.
