Drug peddlers injure 4 cops in Thakurgaon
Four policemen were injured in an attack by drug peddlers at Ziakhor village in Baliadangi upazila on Saturday evening.
The injured are sub-inspector of DB police Abul Bashar, ASI Sharifur Rahman, constables Enamul Haque and Nukul Chandra. They were admitted to Sadar Hospital.
Inspector of DB police Ruhul Amin said, on secret information, a team of detectives raided the house of Alamgir alias Langra Alam, a wanted drug peddler, at the village and arrested him and his uncle Shamsul Haque along with seven bottles of phensidyl.
Punching a DB man, Shamsul managed to flee the scene when other policemen were looking for more bottles of phensidyl.
A group of drug peddlers later attacked the team with sharp weapons when they tried to pick up Alam into the police van, leaving the four injured.
Two cases were filed with Baliadangi police station, accusing 10 people.
Away in Bogra, a policeman was hacked allegedly by a youth in front of Shikta Cinema Hall in Dhunat municipality of the district yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The injured is constable Nasir Uddin, 30, serving at Dhunat police station. He was admitted to a hospital.
Police said one Uzzal Mondal, 25, of Pashchim Bhoron Shahi area in the municipality, swooped on Dhunat Girls' High School and College and took away a laptop of lecturer Abdul Hannan.
The students caught Uzzal red handed and handed him over to police but he tried to flee the scene after hacking the constable, they said.
