Narayanganj vandalism: 3 more cases filed, Mamunul accused in 1
Three more cases have been filed over carrying out vandalism over the confinement of Hefajat-e Islam Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque in a resort in Narayanganj's Sonargaon on April 3.
Mamunul was made accused in one out of the three cases filed with Sonargaon Police Station yesterday, said Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Sonargaon Jubo League Publicity Secretary Nasir Uddin filed a case against 111 named Hefajat and BNP men and 300 unnamed persons for vandalising and torching the Sonargaon upazila Awami League office on the day.
Hefajat leader Mamunul was made the prime accused in the case, said the OC.
Another case was filed by Sonargaon Jubo League President Rafiqul Islam Nannu against 120 named Hefajat and BNP men and 50-60 unnamed persons for allegedly vandalising his business establishment and house.
Shah Jamal Tota, father of Narayanganj district's former Chhatra League vice-president Sohag Rony also filed a case against 20 named Hefajat and BNP men and 30-40 unnamed persons for allegedly vandalising his house.
With the three, six cases have been filed so far with Sonargaon Police Station over the incident while Mamunul was made accused in three of them, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.
On April 7, around 700 Hefajat men, including its Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque, were sued with the same police station over vandalising the resort and attacking police on April 3.
Law enforcers filed two cases with the Sonargaon Police Station while the other case was filed by a local journalist with the same station.
Mamunul was made accused in the two cases.
