Mark Noakhali unsafe for women: Bangladesh Mahila Parishad
Bangladesh Mahila Parishad has expressed grave concern and resentment over the torture of a housewife after an attempt to rape her in Noakhali's Hatiya upazila and circulation of the footage of the incident on social media.
The organisation released a statement regarding this yesterday after many dailies published news about the incident.
Mentioning that multiple incidents of same kind of torture and rape continue to occur in several areas of Noakhali including Subarnachar, Begumganj and Hatiya, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad states that the concerned administration and public representatives should be made accountable for these.

"The area should be marked unsafe for women and steps should be taken accordingly," reads the statement.
Mahila Parishad in the statement also demanded that appropriate steps be taken to ensure punishment of the culprits and safety of the victim and her family.
They also urged the concerned ministry and authorities to take necessary steps in order to prevent repetition of such incidents and called to build country-wide strong social resistance against women and child repression.
