Man’s body recovered from pond in Ctg, wife held
Police today recovered the body of a man from a pond at Telipara area in Barabkunda union under Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram.
The deceased was identified as Joynal Abedin (30), a fruit vendor and resident of the area, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent quoting police.
Police said he was stabbed to death and his body was mutilated. Joynal's wife Lima Akhter (25) was detained in connection with the murder.
"Police was informed about a body floating in the pond from National Hotline Number 999 and later the body was recovered," said Sitakunda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad.
"The body had multiple stab injury marks and the private part of the victim was cut off," said the OC.
"Joynal used to sell fruits in the port city's Halishahar area. His wife has been detained for interrogation following some information given by the neighbours," he said.
Police sent the body to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for an autopsy.
