The 50-yr-old stalker is none but UP chairman

A teenage SSC examinee is under death threat as she rejected his illicit proposal

A female SSC candidate is facing death threat from her stalker, a union parishad (UP) chairman in Nalchity upazila, during the ongoing examinations, alleged the girl and her family members at a press conference in Jhalakathi Reporters Unity office on Tuesday.

Masudur Rahman Salam, 50, chairman of Ranapasha UP, gave the girl proposal for illicit relation several times during the last two years, said the girl,15, who had lost her father earlier.

“Masudur gave proposal to marry my daughter one year ago. Feeling insecure, I married my daughter with neighbouring youth Yunus Molla but the chairman continued disturbing her on the way to school,” said the girl's mother.

Recently the chairman threatened the girl to stop her SSC examinations if she does not accept his illicit offer, she added.

On February 5, he went to the girl's house at Uttar Ranapasha village with his men carrying sharp weapons and the girl and her husband left the house secretly sensing their presence, she said.

“The chairman then assaulted my wife's grandmother. Later he gave death threat to my wife if she attends the examination,” said Yunus.

“I feel insecure on the way to my examination hall,” said the girl.

Md Shakhawat Hossain, OC of Nalchity Police Station, said, “I visited the area and talked to the victim. I was confirmed that the chairman went to the house and a brawl occurred there. We are ready to take action if the girl or her family files a written complaint.”

The reporter made several attempts to contact the UP chairman over cell phone but the latter kept it switched off. An SMS was sent to his cell number for his version but no reply came.
