Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Vice-Chancellor Prof Aminul Haque Bhuiyan will go on a two-month leave amid the ongoing protest at the university in demand of his resignation.

The decision was made at a syndicate meeting this morning.

The university's acting proctor Md Emdadul Haque confirmed it to The Daily Star.

He said, “The vice-chancellor will be going on the leave from May 1.”

Earlier, 35 teachers of the university had resigned from different administrative posts on Monday demanding the VC's resignation.

Contacted, VC Prof Aminul Haque told The Daily Star that he took the leave for his family.

"I formed a dialogue committee to talk to the 35 teachers and solve the problems. Forestry department Head Narayon Saha has been made the head of the five-member-committee."
