Youth gets life term for murder
A Panchagarh court on Monday sentenced a man to life term rigorous imprisonment (RI) for killing his brother-in-law in Tentulia upazila in 2016.
The convict is Mohammad Rubel, 30, son of Sharif Uddin of Mominpara village in the upazila.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Anisur Rahman also fined the convict Tk 10,000. In default, he is to suffer six months more in jail.
Besides, the court acquitted two other accused in the case as charges brought against them could not be proved.
According to the prosecution, Rubel married Parul Begum, 23, daughter of Chiharu of Shatadal cluster village, couple of years ago.
After the marriage, a feud developed between the two families centring various family issues.
As a sequel, Rubel called Parul’s younger brother Abdul Momin, 20, at Tentulia Bazar on August 22 in 2016 and killed him in a nearby sugarcane field behind Tentulia Met Office.
The following day, deceased’s mother Romena Bewa filed a case with Tentulia Police Station against three people, including Rubel.
