Woman killed by troubled daughter
A woman was killed allegedly by her mentally challenged daughter at her house in Mathbaria upazila town of Pirojpur yesterday.
The deceased is Firoja Nasrin, 56, wife of late bank officer Hemayet Uddin.
Police arrested alleged killer Tamanna Jebin Rumana, 28, from the house.
Reaz Uddin, son of the deceased, told local journalists that his mother Firoja lived in a house at Collegepara in the town with her daughter Tamanna, a divorcee, who was mentally abnormal for long.
On Tuesday night, Tamanna quarrelled with her mother and fell sick.
Informed, Reaz, who lives in a rented house in the town with his wife, went to his mother’s house yesterday morning.
“I went outside to buy medicine for my sister Tamanna around 10:00am. Returning home, I found the door locked from inside. Getting no response after calling several times, I entered the house after breaking the door with the help of neighbours and found that my mother had been hacked to death,” Reaz said.
“On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the slain woman’s body to Pirojpur Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Her daughter Tamanna, the alleged killer, is being treated at a hospital in Mathbaria under custody. She seems to be mentally troubled,” said Md Masuduzzaman, OC of Mathbaria Police Station.
“The deceased’s son Reaz has filed a case accusing Tamanna. We have started investigation,” he said.
