Two jailed under explosives case

A court here yesterday sentenced two men to life term imprisonment in a case under the Explosives Act.

The convicts are Nahid Mollah, 22, of Luxmipur village in Bhanga upazila and Farid Mridha, 35, of Akterchar village in Sadarpur upazila of the district.

Babu Mridha, public prosecutor of Faidpur Special Judge’s Court, said Judge Mohammad Motiar Rahman of the court also fined the duo Tk 20,000 each, in default, they are to suffer another three months in jail. 

On August 26 in 2016, police arrested Nahid and Farid with bombs, two guns, magazines and books on jihad. 

Later, a case was filed in this connection.
