Two girls raped, teacher held
Two schoolgirls have been allegedly raped in Bandarban and Jashore districts.
On Wednesday, police arrested a schoolteacher on charge of raping a fourth-grade mentally challenged girl at Pachakari village in Jashore’s Monirampur upazila, reports our Benapole correspondent.
The arrestee is Shibapado Roy, son of Kalipado Roy of the village, and an assistant teacher of HM PK Secondary School in Khulna’s Dumuria upazila.
Police and locals said the victim lives in Dumuria upazila. She came to visit her uncle’s house at Pachakari village with her mother.
In the afternoon, the accused took the girl to his house and raped her. The victim later told her mother that she was raped by the teacher.
On information, police arrested Shibapado Roy from the area on Wednesday night, said Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Monirampur Police Station.
The girl’s mother filed a case in this connection, said the OC.
Meanwhile, an eight -year-old girl was raped allegedly by a youth in Baishari area of Bandarban’s Naikhangchhari upazila, reports our correspondent.
The victim, daughter of a domestic help, is a Class I student of a local school.
Police and family members said one Joynal Abedin, 19, an employee of a grocery shop, raped the girl on Monday.
Though the incident took place on Monday noon, the victim’s family members did not disclose the matter to anyone as Syed Alam, owner of the shop, continued threatening them.
On information, police detained Alam yesterday, said inspector Md Liakat Ali, in-charge of Baishari police investigation centre.
They were raiding different areas to arrest the alleged rapist, said the inspector.
The victim was sent to a local hospital for medical test, said the police official.
