Swechchhasebak League man found murdered

The throat-slit body of a youth was found in a paddy field at Madhyerchar village in Melandah upazila yesterday.

The deceased, Jewel, 30, son of Abbas Ali and resident of Bamunpara outskirt of Jamalpur town, was a member of the town unit of Swechchhasebak League.

Quoting the victim's family members, Melandah Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gazi Sakhawat Hossain said Jewel went out of his house on Friday evening but did not return at night.

Locals spotted Jewel's body with throat slit in a paddy field and informed police, said the OC.

The body was sent to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Criminals killed Jewel by slitting his throat somewhere else and dumped the body there, said the OC, adding that they are trying to arrest the criminals involved in the killing.

A murder case was under processing to be filed with the police station as of filing of this report at 4:00pm on Saturday.
