Saudi national found dead in Mymensingh

A Saudi national was found dead at a house in Mymensingh's Gouripur upazila early yesterday.

The dead is Naser Faleh Al Dusari, 48, a resident of Jeddah.

Police detained Abu Sayeed Sanny, the house owner and resident of Douhakhola village, in a drunken state, and later, he was shown arrested in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act with Gouripur Police Station, said Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Shaker Hossain Siddiquee, additional superintendent of police (Gouripur Circle) told The Daily Star that the two knew each other for the last 20 years.

“Dusari had been living in Sanny's place since November 9 last year, the day he arrived in Bangladesh,” Shaker said, adding that the foreigner had visited the country for several times in the last five years.

However, police could not know confirm the purpose of his visits.

Police are interrogating Sanny, the OC added.

Ishiaq Mosharraf, medical officer of Gouripur Upazila Health Complex, said there was no sign of injury on the body. The cause of the death would be known after receiving the autopsy report, the doctor added.

Farhana Karim, upazila nirbahi officer of Gouripur, said police had informed the Saudi embassy in Dhaka about the incident.

“The next course of action will be taken upon suggestion from the embassy officials,” she added.

The body was sent to Mymensingh Medical College morgue for autopsy. 

Additional Inspector General of Police (Mymensingh Range) Dr Akkas Uddin Bhuiyan visited the spot.
