In photos: Eid prayers amid coronavirus measures
Hundreds of Muslims attended Eid congregations at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque as well as other mosques in Bangladesh instead of Eidgah grounds today amid a risk of Covid-19 infection.
This year's Eid celebration is unlike previous years as Muslims throughout the country are celebrating the biggest religious festival without outdoor activities to prevent the transmission of the highly infectious virus.
People had to let go of the tradition of embracing each other, as is the norm on Eid day, UNB reports.
The government urged people to avoid Eidgah or other open places for congregations and to offer prayers at mosques following recommended health advice.
Five jamaats were held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The first one was held at 7am, second at 8am, third at 9am and fourth one at 10am. The last jamaat took place at 10:45am.
