Month-long book fair begins in Pabna
A month long book fair began in the town on Friday.
The fair, organised by Annoda Gabinda Public Library at Pabna Town Hall premises, was inaugurated by former vice chancellor of Rajshahi University Prof Dr Abdul Khaleque on Friday evening, followed by a discussion and vibrant cultural programme.
Prof Khaleque attended the programme as the chief guest while President of Annoda Gabinda Public Library Anjan Chowdhury was in the chair.
Among others, Pabna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Pabna Press Club President Prof Shibojit Nag and Annoda Gabinda Public Library Secretary Abdul Matin Khan, spoke on the occasion.
“Language Movement has triggered the spirit of the country's Liberation War and we should keep the spirit up,” Dr Khaleque said
During a visit this correspondent saw like the previous years a good number of rare books are kept for display at the fair premises.
Over 4,000 thousand books are being displayed at the fair premises, Matin said, adding that the collections include some 17th century books and ancient hand writings on tree leaves.
