Kurigram, Lalmonirhat AL council held
The triannual council of Lalmonirhat district unit of Awami League (AL) was held at the district council auditorium in the town on Wednesday after seven years while the council of Kurigram AL was held yesterday, report our correspondents.
Incumbent committee’s president Motahar Hossain, MP, and general secretary advocate Maatiar Rahman, also chairman of District Council, were made president and secretary again in the council of Lalmonirhat AL at the directive of party President Sheikh Hasina over cellphone.
As chief guest AL central committee’s presidium member Ramesh Chandra Sen inaugurated the conference around 11:00am.
Party central committee’s joint secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak was present there as key speaker. Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, also the local lawmaker, was also present at the council as special guest.
Incumbent district unit president Motahar Hossain, MP, presided over the inaugural session.
Nanak in his speech said as intruders are the harmful for the party and its activists, everybody should be aware of and build resistance against the intruders from BNP and Jamaat.
Nanak added the vested quarters, led by BNP-Jamaat, are still active to hinder country’s development. So, party activists should remain vigilant.
He also urged all to work together for the welfare of the country.
Meanwhile, the triannual council of Kurigram AL was held in the town hall yesterday after six years.
Incumbent committee’s general secretary Md Jafar Ali, also the zilla parishad chairman, and joint secretary Aman Uddin Ahmed Manju, also the Sadar upazila parishad chairman, were made president and general secretary in the council in presence of party’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
The last council of the district AL was held on February 6 in 2013.
