Criminals hacked a young housewife to death in her sleep in Faridpur upazila of the district early yesterday.
The victim, Sathi Khatun, 20, wife of Mizanur Rahman of Tiarpara village, was daughter of Abdul Mazid of Pachuabari village in the upazila.
Following a family feud with her husband, Sathi had been staying at her father’s house for the last one month, victim’s relatives said.
Deceased’s family members alleged that Sathi’s husband Mizanur and his family members might have kill her over a longstanding family feud.
Sathi’s father Mazid said criminals entered the room tactfully and hacked her with sharp weapons while she was sleeping with her younger sister.
Hearing cry for help, they rushed in and found her dead on the spot, he said.
“My daughter was unhappy with her husband and recently she filed a case against her husband for demanding dowry. Due to the enmity her husband and his family members might have killed my daughter,” Mazid alleged.
Pabna Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shamima Akter said, being informed, police went to the spot, recovered the body yesterday morning and sent it to Pabna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
They were investigating the matter, the ASP said, adding that, deceased’s husband and his family members went into hiding after the incident and police were trying to arrest them.
