Former Islamic Foundation DG Shamim Mohammad Afzal passes away

Former Director General of Islamic Foundation Shamim Mohammad Afzal passed away at a city hospital tonight. He was 63.
Shamim Mohammad Afzal died at 10:20pm while undergoing treatment in the city's Central Hospital, said a release of the Islamic Foundation.
He had been diagnosed with cancer earlier.
Shamim Mohammad Afzal leaves behind by his wife, daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He will be buried after Jumma prayer at his village in Ashuganj upazila in Brahmanbaria.
Islamic Foundation, ministers and different organisations have expressed deep shock at the demise of the former DG of Islamic Foundation.
Afzal started his carrier as an assistant judge in Sylhet in 1983. He served the position of senior assistant judge, sub-judge, additional district and sessions judge in different districts of the country for 25 years.
He completed his post-graduation (LLM) from the Department of Law, University of Dhaka.
He was DG of the Islamic Foundation from 2009 to 2019.
