Being tipped off that a group of “drug peddlers” has gathered in Dhanpur, a team of police conducted a drive there, the OC said.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the criminals opened fire, forcing them to fire back in “self-defense”, leaving Jamal injured while the others managed to flee the scene.

Later, he was taken to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead, the police official said.

Meanwhile, police recovered 30 kgs of hemp and 2,000 Yaba pills from the spot.
