Contractor fined Tk 5.23 cr for illegally razing 92,700 sq ft of hills in CTG
The Department of Environment yesterday fined Spectra Engineering Limited, a contracting firm, Tk 5 crore 23 lakh for cutting hills at Sitakunda's Salimpur area.
DoE Chattogram (region) levied the fine after a hearing at its port city office in Khulshi.

Mohammad Moazzom Hossain, director of DoE Chattogram, told The Daily Star that the contracting firm illegally razed 92,700 square feet of hills in Salimpur while implementing a link road project undertaken by Chattogram Development Authority.
The six-kilometre road will connect the port city's Baizid area to the Chattogram-Dhaka highway.
