Bodies of two women found in Naogaon
Police yesterday recovered the bodies of two women from a shallow well in Naogaon's Badalgachhi upazila a day after they went missing.
The deceased were identified as Sathi Begum, 22, wife of Abdul Qadir of Par-Adhaipur village in the upazila, and Poree Begum, 30, wife of Nazrul Islam of Tentulia village.
The incident took place in Changla village under the upazila. When informed, a six-member team of the Crime Scene Unit of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from Rajshahi led by Inspector Abu Taleb, went to the spot around 1:30pm to collect evidence, reports our Naogaon correspondent quoting police officials.
The identities of the deceased were revealed after a voter ID card was recovered from the spot.
Abdul Qadir, husband of Sathi Begum, said he lives in a rented house with his family in Kola Bazar of the upazila. Poree Begum and her family are tenants of the same house.
On Wednesday afternoon, Sathi went for a walk with Poree Begum, and that was the last Qadir said he saw of his wife.
Qadir said he went to the spot after receiving news of the body recovery and identified his wife, adding that he does not know what happened.
"The motive of the double-murder could not be known immediately. But police primarily suspected that it might have happened from previous enmity. Injury marks have been found on the head of the deceased," said Zubayer Hossain, officer-in-charge of Badalgachhi Police Station.
Nazrul Islam, father of Poree Begum, lodged a case with Badalgachhi Police Station in this connection, the OC added.
