Abducted teenager killed
Three teenage boys, arrested in connection with the killing of one of their classmates Fardin Alam Rupak in Kishoreganj’s Bhairab upazila on Friday, confessed their involvement in the murder before a court yesterday.
After recording their statement under Section 164, Kishoreganj Judicial Magistrate Ashiqur Rahman sent them to jail, Sub Inspector of Bhairab Police Station, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, Amjad Hossain said.
Rupak, who passed Secondary School Certificate examinations from KB Pilot High School this year, was preparing for college admission, the IO said.
Police recovered the throat-slit body of 16-year-old Rupak, who was abducted and murdered allegedly by his three classmates, from a six-storied building in Dakkhinpara area of Bhairab municipality of Friday afternoon.
Police detained deceased’s three classmates on the same night, the IO said.
“Rupak’s classmates abducted him to demand ransom from his father,” Bhairab Police Station OC (investigation) Bahalul Alam Khan quoted the deceased’s family members as saying.
As Rupak came to learn about his abductors’ plan, he strongly protested it.
Later, fearing arrest, the kidnappers killed Rupak and left his body in a sack on the rooftop of the building, the OC said.
Muklesur Rahman, OC of Bhairab Police Station, said Rupak went out of his house after one of his friends phoned him around 8:00pm on Thursday and he did not return home since then.
After failing to know his whereabouts, family members lodged a general diary with Bhairab Police Station and informed the Rapid Action Battalion.
