Kushtia raid: 3 female ‘militants’ remanded

A court in Kushtia court today placed three suspected female militants, who were arrested from a hideout in the district on Saturday, on a four-day remand each.

Senior Judge of Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court MM Morshed passed the order after police produced them before it seeking a 10-day remand, reports our Kushtia correspondent quoting court sources.

Law enforcers arrested the trio including Tithi Khatun, 32, wife of Neo JMB Ameer Ayub Bachchu alias Sajib, after conducting a raid, codenamed “Tepid Punch”, at the hideout in Bamanpara area Kushtia's Bheramara upazila on July 1.

Other arrestees are Sumaiya Akter, 26, wife of second-in-command of the outfit Abzar alias Rashed, and Toly Khatun, wife of Arman Ali of Thakurpur in Bheramara upazila.

Two children -- five-month-old Akia Hasan and six-year-old Nova -- were also rescued from the hideout at a one-storey tin-shed building.

Meanwhile, the court today sent Nasima Khatun, owner of the house, to jail after police produced her before it showing her arrested under Section 54.
