Jute mill gutted in Bogra

Fire gutted huge quantity of raw jute and several machineries at the warehouse of Khandaker Jute Mills in Manikchawk area in Sadar upazila yesterday.

Bazlur Rahman, senior station officer at Bogra Fire Station, said four fire fighting units from Sadar and Gabtoli Fire Station rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after a hectic effort of nearly one and a half hours.

Fire service officials primarily assumed that the fire might have originated from an electric short circuit.

Bazlur said the extent of loss caused by the fire was Tk 20 lakh, while the mill authorities claimed that the fire gutted raw jute and machineries worth around Tk 1 crore.
