HC asks govt to provide treatment to Magura’s tortured madrasa student

According to The Daily Star report published today, Abujar, a student of Bagharpara's Darilakur Madrasa, had been physically tortured by his teacher Jahangir Hossain since his admission three years ago.
Police rescued the boy from Magura bus stand area on Monday night, with his left leg still tied up with an iron shackle and a piece of wood.
Following the report, the HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Md Selim today issued a suo moto rule directing the deputy commission of the district to take necessary steps for his treatment.
In the rule, the HC asked the authorities concerned to explain in four weeks as to why appropriate legal action should not be taken against the teacher responsible for torturing Abujar.
The education secretary, chairman of madrasa education board, deputy commissioner of Magura and principal of the madrasa have been made respondents of the rule.
Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajol and Abu Khaled Al Mamun placed The Daily Star before the HC bench for necessary order.
