Five injured in Faridpur clash
Five people were injured in a clash at Savar village in Shaltha upazila yesterday morning.
Locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Illias Hossain and Munnu Sheikh of the village over establishing supremacy in the area.
Md Arshad, a supporter of Munnu, locked in an altercation with Hridoy Sheikh, a support of Illias, over the issue on Wednesday.
As a sequel to the conflict, the rival groups attacked each other with lethal weapons, leaving five people from both sides injured. They also damaged four houses during the incident.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said Syed Lutfor Rahman, office-in-charge of Shalta Police Station.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to avoid any further trouble, said the OC.
The injured were admitted to Nagarkanda Upazila Health Complex, he said.
